Head of Accounting

Overview
We’re looking for a Head of Accounting who can bring order, insight, and control to a fast-moving financial company. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll design systems, manage reporting, and ensure our books are audit-ready and regulator-proof from the start.
You’ll lead all core accounting activity, oversee financial controls, and help shape the backbone of Caledonia’s treasury function. If you’re equal parts strategic and detail obsessed, this is your seat at the table.
What You'll Do
- Own all accounting operations, including ledgers, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end processes
- Build and maintain internal controls to ensure accurate, compliant financial data
- Oversee preparation of management accounts, financial statements, and statutory filings
- Work closely with the Head of Treasury on cash flow, capital allocation, and forecasting
- Ensure readiness for regulatory audits and support licensing and EMI authorisation processes
- Manage relationships with external auditors, accountants, and financial service providers
- Implement accounting systems and policies that scale as the business grows
What You'll Bring
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification with at least 6 years post-qualification experience
- A strong grounding in UK financial reporting standards and regulatory frameworks
- Experience working in or with fintechs, EMIs, or regulated financial companies
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end accounting operations in a high-growth environment
- Confidence building processes from scratch and setting standards others can follow
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain numbers to non-finance teams
- An eye for detail, a bias for clarity, and the judgment to know when good is good enough

This role reports to the COO and works closely with the Head of Treasury, legal and compliance teams, and Caledonia’s co-founders. You’ll lead a lean, sharp accounting function that scales with the business.
